2021 marked the 65th Anniversary of the BRITISH ASSOCIATION OF SINGAPORE.

Founded in 1956 as the British European Association, the British Association of Singapore (BA) was originally established to support the welfare and finances of British people living in Singapore as the country moved towards independence.

Today, the BA is a not-for-profit organisation that warmly welcomes members from all nationalities, providing a supportive community for newcomers to Singapore and anyone eager to join us.

Operated entirely by volunteers, the BA offers a variety of recreational activities at various locations throughout Singapore.

The BA is governed by an elected Council of volunteers, led by a Chairperson. Any member can stand for election, provided they are proposed by two other members and approved at the AGM.

Traditionally, the BA invites the British High Commissioner and their spouse to serve as Patrons. The BA enjoys a strong relationship with the High Commissioner and is regularly invited to host events at Eden Hall, the High Commissioner’s official residence on Nassim Road.

Join us and enjoy a range of social activities including quiz nights, evening socials, walking groups, book clubs and access to The British Club on select days. Discover concerts, exhibitions, theatre performances, cooking classes, and more. Our aim is to make every experience enjoyable, helping you learn new skills and make new friends.

For membership inquiries, please contact us at membership@britishassociation.org.sg. We look forward to welcoming you to our vibrant community soon!
