It has been said that One-North has “one of the highest concentration of Very Brainy People from all over the world”! And here is where you will find Singapore’s very own Silicon Valley, which the Economist has dubbed “the world’s most tightly packed entrepreneurial ecosystem”
Spanning 200 hectares, one-north is the live-work-play-learn hub developed by the Singapore Government to house a mix of high value added service industries, like biomedical research, infocom technology and broadcasting and digital productions.
Some of Singapore’s most eye caching architecture can be seen here, as the masterplan for the district was conceived by the world famous architect, Zaha Hadid. Set amongst undulating hills and lush greenery, the buildings in one-north have interesting names like Matrix, Symbiosis, Genome, Synapse, and are home to companies like Procter and Gamble, Discovery and Lucas Film. Green is the buzzword here, sustainability and environmental friendly technologies feature in the whole development.
Attesting to the notion that art is the food for the soul, there are numerous public sculptures and paintings in and around the vicinity. On top of that, there is a dedicated art enclave within the district, and we will explore a few of the galleries there. And for the hungry minds, the selection of restaurants and cafes is endless; Starbucks fans take note, their nicest café in Singapore is located right here in a beautiful Black and White house.
