Learn more about the BA

It is always interesting to see the origin and history of a club or organisation. It is especially so in the case of an association like ours, which is run on a voluntary basis, provides so many different activities for members, gives support to local charities and generally makes our stay in Singapore more fulfilling.

Of course, for things to run smoothly we need a Committee or “Council” of volunteers lead by an elected Chairperson, Edith Blyth took over the role in April 2018.

The BA traditionally invites the British High Commissioner and their spouse to be its Patrons. We are pleased to enjoy good relations with the High Commission and are regularly invited to hold events at Eden Hall, the High Commissioner’s official Residence on Nassim Road. Recently these have included Christmas Carols at Eden Hall, the AGM, the Volunteers’ Tea.  Look out for the occasional BA tour of the house and gardens followed by morning coffee in the drawing room too!

The BA was instrumental in setting up the Gleneagles Hospital, Tanglin Trust School, and the British Club. We have close ties with Singapore charities in both supporting financial and practical help through volunteering BA members giving back to their adoptive community.

Join us and enjoy The BEAM, tours, social activities, handicrafts, and sports. Find out what’s on – concerts, exhibitions, theatre, cooking classes etc. Learn new skills, meet new friends – we aim to make it fun. Why not join us for a coffee on a Thursday morning from 10.30-12.30 at Brunetti’s, Tanglin Mall.
